MARITIME
SISTERS

Maritime Sisters, Sylvia and Marjolein Boer, accelerate the transition towards a sustainable and future-proof maritime sector. With maritime DNA, a sharp strategic perspective and a healthy dose of energy, they motivate companies, public authorities and knowledge partners to take action on the fields of innovation, circularity and diversity. From design to decommissioning, they work with industry leaders on solutions that are not only technically feasible, but also economically viable and strategically essential. Their projects span the entire lifecycle of ships: smarter use of materials in design and construction, sustainable retrofits and lifetime extension, reverse logistics, and the high-quality reuse of parts and components. In doing so, they bring supply chain partners together, help define clear objectives and provide support through their extensive international network, expertise and ability to drive progress. This approach is reflected in programmes and projects such as ‘Maritime Circularity’ for the Province of South Holland and the Municipality of Rotterdam, the ‘Maritime Moonshot’ for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the ‘CIRCO Value-Chain Track’ on reverse logistics in the maritime sector, and the ‘Circular Route’ at Europort 2025. Through these initiatives, Maritime Sisters connect maritime (manufacturing) companies, ports, industry organisations, public authorities and knowledge institutions around tangible circular applications: from reducing cable use on board and modular design to smart retrofits, extending the lifetime of existing ships, and remanufacturing components such as bow thrusters. Their client portfolio ranges from multinationals such as Allseas, Boskalis, Damen, Port of Rotterdam, Shell and Statkraft to SMEs including MF Shipping Group, Reynard and Royal Roos. Their clients also include the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, the Ministry of Defence, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), as well as several Spanish ports, including Bilbao and Las Palmas. With more than twenty years of combined experience in innovation, strategy, marketing and communications across the maritime, port and offshore energy sectors—both public and private—Sylvia and Marjolein know how to turn ideas into action. They challenge management teams, build consortia, activate communities and bring the right people together at the right time. As energetic lateral thinkers and super-connectors, they are the partners-in-crime for organisations that want to do more than talk about change and are ready to actively build a sustainable maritime future.
